Cotton University Forum for the Specially Abled (CUFSA)
The Cotton University Forum for the Specially Abled (CUFSA) is an initiative at Cotton University, Guwahati, aimed at fostering an inclusive environment for students with disabilities. The forum is dedicated to providing support, accessibility, and equal opportunities for specially-abled students, ensuring they can participate in academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities on equal terms with others.
The key objectives of CUFSA include:
- Advocacy and Awareness: Promoting awareness about the challenges faced by specially-abled individuals and advocating for their rights and opportunities.
- Support Systems: Providing essential facilities, including accessible infrastructure, resources, and academic assistance, to help specially-abled students succeed.
- Empowerment and Engagement: Encouraging active participation in campus activities and ensuring that students with disabilities are fully integrated into university life.
- Rights and Advocacy: Ensuring that the rights of students with disabilities are respected, advocating for fair treatment, equal opportunities, and adherence to policies related to disability rights in education.
- Infrastructure Accessibility: Working towards improving the university’s physical infrastructure, including installing ramps, elevators, and creating accessible classrooms.
- Awareness and Sensitization: Raising awareness about the challenges faced by students with disabilities and fostering an inclusive, empathetic campus culture.
The forum also collaborates with other organizations and institutions to foster an inclusive and supportive community for students with disabilities. Through these efforts, CUFSA aims to provide an environment where students with disabilities can thrive academically and socially, free from discrimination and barriers.
