Dr Hiren Deka is currently serving as the Registrar (i/c) of Cotton University. Since 2005, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, where he holds the position of Associate Professor. Over the years, he has also shouldered key administrative responsibilities, including serving as the Controller of Examinations (i/c) and as the Director (i/c) of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Cotton University.

Dr Deka pursued his early education in Belsor, Nalbari, completing his primary, secondary, and high school studies there. He passed the High School Leaving Certificate Examination from Belsor Higher Secondary School in 1986. He then completed his Higher Secondary from Cotton College in 1988. He then graduated in Mathematics (Major) from Cotton College with First Class First position and distinction under Gauhati University in 1991, followed by a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi in 1994. In 2013, he was awarded a Doctorate degree by Gauhati University.

Dr Hiren Deka began his academic career in August 1995 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Jorhat Engineering College. During his tenure there, he was actively involved in both academic and social spheres, including student union activities, and served as Hostel Superintendent from 1999 to 2005. That same year, he joined Cotton College, where he has since continued to contribute as a dedicated teacher and mentor.

Deeply engaged in both academic and institutional development, Dr Deka has published research papers in several reputed journals. Under his supervision, one scholar has been awarded the PhD degree, while two others are currently pursuing their research. He remains actively involved in the academic and social activities of Cotton University.
