Why Study @ CU

Cotton University (erstwhile Cotton College) is the first institution of higher studies of north-east India and over the past 121 years of glorious existence it has emerged to be one among the premier institutions of this region. The University is constituted of fi ve faculties and three centers. Under the roof of the fi ve faculties thirty departments are housed. All the departments along with the centers off er courses at various levels including undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD. The courses are of contemporary relevance and therefore o ur students with a scope to open newer avenues for themselves. The content of these courses are at par with any other institution at the national or international front and follow guidelines prescribed by university grants commission (UGC). A time-to-time review and updating process is followed to keep the course contents relevant and to enable our students to compete and thrive at all levels. Apart from the conventional degree and diploma pro- grams, many of the courses are of multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary nature. In addition to the aforementioned courses cotton university, as part of its commitment towards society and nation building, has also been mentoring higher secondary (HS) students of both science and arts streams.

Conventional departments of Science and Humanities have always been a part of this institution. These have contributed towards generating quality human resource by imparting quality education to students in the respective fields. Along with these conventional elds new departments have been introduced into the cotton university system with an idea to provide education in contemporary areas of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary origin. Among such departments include Department of Archaeology, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and Environmental Biology and Wildlife Sciences.

In addition to the academic opportunities that the university has in store, it also has an infrastructure that makes it possible to host a large number of students and to facilitate them with the best possible amenities. Building infrastructure equipped with modern facilities, hostel facilities for men and women including international students, sports facilities with modern equipment, cafeterias and eateries are all a part of the campus. The uni-versity community is striving hard in various elds of academics, literary cultural and sports activities to bring laurels to the university as well as for our nation.
