Dr. Hiren Deka currently serves as the Registrar (In-Charge) of Cotton University, where he plays a pivotal role in institutional administration and academic governance. A distinguished faculty member of the Department of Mathematics since 2005, he holds the position of Associate Professor. Over the years, he has undertaken multiple leadership roles, including Controller of Examinations (In-Charge) and Director (In-Charge), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), contributing significantly to policy formulation, quality enhancement, and institutional restructuring.

Dr. Deka hails from Belsor, Nalbari, where he completed his early education and passed the High School Leaving Certificate Examination from Belsor Higher Secondary School in 1986.
He pursued his Higher Secondary studies at Cotton College (1988), and subsequently graduated in Mathematics (Major) from Cotton College under Gauhati University in 1991, securing First Class First with Distinction. He earned his Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Delhi in 1994 and was awarded a Doctorate from Gauhati University in 2013.

His academic career began in 1995 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Jorhat Engineering College, where he was deeply involved in teaching, student engagement, campus administration, and cultural activities. He also served as Hostel Superintendent from 1999 to 2005. In the same year, he joined Cotton College (now Cotton University), continuing his journey as a dedicated academic, mentor, and institutional leader.

A committed scholar, Dr. Deka has published research papers in reputed journals and remains actively involved in advancing the research culture of Cotton University. Over the years, he has supervised several doctoral scholars to successful completion and continues to guide others who are currently pursuing their Ph.D. under his supervision. His mentorship reflects a commitment not only to academic rigor but also to nurturing research capacity and intellectual growth among students and young researchers. Through his scholarly engagement, administrative responsibilities, and collaborative contributions across academic bodies and committees, he plays a significant role in strengthening Cotton University’s academic standards, research ecosystem, and institutional development.
